"Tilting" a business' center of gravity to downstream activities such as customer acquisition and retention makes a lot of sense, particularly, if a business can identify and deliver what its customers value the most. This certainly would strengthen competitive advantage in the face of commoditization. I look forward to reading and learning from your book, Niraj!
